Any great company requires talented and passionate people working together to fulfil that company’s mission and vision. At TSWG we are extremely fortunate to have a number of amazing teammates, all working to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers. We’re software developers, designers, security experts, cloud junkies, tech support superheroes and so much more. Each month we like to shine the spotlight on one member of the TSWG team, and give you a peek at the remarkable group of people behind our technology solutions.
This month we’re shining the spotlight on one of our longest serving team members, Thomas Randall, a Senior Software Developer.
Thomas has been with TSWG since 2002 and has over 20 years of experience working as a successful IT professional predominantly within the Finance sector. His commitment to delivering positive customer outcomes and his expertise in agile methodologies, project delivery, and software release management make him an indispensable member of the TSWG team. He is currently leading the team that is responsible for the delivery and integration of our Expresso product. We asked Thomas a few questions to find out a little bit more about him!
What would constitute a perfect day for you?
A perfect day for me would be waking up without the alarm, and without the need to go into the office – that would be a great start! If there was a beach & a bar nearby with the cricket on then that would be absolutely perfect.
What is one thing about yourself that not many people know?
When I started at TSWG I was initially employed as a tester and I was the first person that TSWG employed in a dedicated testing role.
If you were given an all-expenses paid holiday to anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Hard question – there are so many things I’d like to do and see. I love trying new and unusual foods, and love the outdoors – so a place where I can do both of those things?
What is your favourite thing about working at TSWG?
The people I get to work with, as well as the flexibility and the diversity of the work. Everyone at TSWG is always up for a good challenge. It’s nice to work with people who are willing to give it their all and work extremely hard to deliver quality products and outcomes.
What is your absolute favourite thing to eat?
Doughnuts – hard to go past them. Definitely our go to for celebrating client milestones!
What would you say is the best thing about being a Software Developer?
Developing software gives you the ability to exercise creativity while working within a structured engineering framework. It’s satisfying to come up with a solution to a problem, and implement that solution yourself.
If you could have a drink with anyone (fictional, alive, dead, famous, non-famous) who would it be and why?
Honestly, I think I’d just prefer to have a drink with my friends, because I don’t do it often enough!
